Even though the Indianapolis Colts are 1-1 after two preseason games, this reloaded team has showed promise in both games they have played in so far. After one blowout victory at home versus the St. Louis Rams 38-3, and one last-second loss at Heinz Field against the Pittsburgh Steelers by a score of 26-24, the Colts have led the NFL in points scored so far.

The Colts have scored a total of 62 points in their two preseason games, which is a league-high. The defense has only given up 29 points, and two of those scores were a 57-yard screen pass scramble and an Andrew Luck interception by the Steelers that was returned for a touchdown.

Even after those two big-play scores, Luck and the Colts rebounded with two touchdown drives of their own, eventually taking the lead in the game. Last year in college, seven of Luck’s interceptions were follwed by a touchdown on his next drive. This young man has showed strength, mobility, and poise early in this preseason.

The re-vamped Colts defense totally shut down St. Louis, and held their ground against the Steelers for the most part. For a defense filled with new faces and familiar faces in new places, the defense looks much more fired-up and aggressive then they were at any time last season.

The most-anticipated preseason In Indianapolis history continues this Saturday in the nation’s capital, against Andrew Luck’s fellow rookie quarterback draft pick Robert Griffin III, and the Washington Redskins.

To help rebuild their injured roster of linebackers, the Indianapolis Colts have brought in free agent Mike Balogun. The Colts have been hit by injuries early and often already this preseason. These early injuries, although surprising, are not all that uncommon or shocking.

With their second game of the preseason coming up in Pittsburgh this Sunday night, the Colts will find themselves on a grand stage for the first time. The Colts will travel to Heinz Field on Sunday night, under the spotlight of a nation-wide primetime game for the first time this season. The Colts have only one other nationally-televised game, which is an away game against the Jacksonville Jaguars in week 10 of the regular season.

The Colts finished the last of their two-a-day practices on Wednesday, but will return to the practice field in Anderson, Indiana for a night practice on Thursday. The Colts will close out training camp in Anderson on Friday, before making the trip to Pittsburgh for their primetime game on Sunday night.

NFL veteran defensive end, Cory Redding, says he is ready to make his debut as a Colt on Sunday. Redding missed the game against St. Louis last week with an injured elbow.

“Even though I’m an old vet in this league, I heal quick,” Redding said.

Following their 38-3 home victory against the St. Louis Rams in game one of the 2012 NFL Preseason, the Indianapolis Colts had the following day off. After a well-deserved off-day on Monday, the Colts returned to Anderson, Indiana on Tuesday to finish up their last few days of camp. On Sunday, the Colts will face another challenge by traveling to Pittsburgh and battling the Steelers.

This new-look Colts squad may have looked dominant in their home preseason debut last Sunday, but the team did not walk away from the game unscarred. Linebacker Pat Angerer, the team’s leading tackler last season, will miss over a month with a broken foot that he suffered against the Rams. Linebacker Robert Mathis and new Colts running back Melwelde Moore both ended up with rib injuries, and it is still yet to be determined how much of this preseason either player might miss. The Colts also lost second-year linebacker Scott Lutrus with an ACL injury, forcing the team to place him on the injured reserve list for the season. Lutrus is the third linebacker to go down for the Colts in this early preseason.

On Tuesday, the Colts also signed running back Alvester Alexander.
