The Indianapolis Colts have announced that they will be making upgrades to Lucas Oil Stadium. The home of the Colts has only been open for five years, but the organization believes it is time to make a few minor additions, to help improve box suite seating capacity.

The Capital Improvement Board of Indianapolis has agreed to the additions, and will share the cost of two new luxury suites in the upper level of the stadium. The CIB’s plan is to pay for any building costs, up to $2 million. The Colts will cover the cost of anything exceeding the initial allotted funds. The Colts will also pay to install two additional digital billboards inside the stadium.

The new additions will help bring in extra revenue from the luxury suites’ clientele, but may not be a welcome idea for all fans and Indianapolis residents. Taxes were raised initially, when the agreement to build Lucas Oil Stadium was first finalized. Recently, the county admissions tax for pro football and basketball tickets in Indianapolis were also raised, climbing from 6 percent to 10 percent. In a way, the regular everyday fan is already paying for the new billboards and suites.

Lucas Oil Stadium has recently held NCAA tournament games, as well as hosting Super Bowl XLVI successfully. Adding more room for more seating will bring in more income, which could also lead to other high-profile events in the future.

There could be some new music being heard at Lucas Oil Stadium next season. After several years and numerous comments about the music at Indianapolis Colts’ home games getting stale, it seems that team management might finally be paying attention. The voice of the people have been requested, and hopefully will be heard from.

The Colts have reached out to local media outlets recently, with a request to hear from fans, concerning their interest in changing the home game music at Lucas Oil Stadium. Indianapolis radio station 1070am, which is the local broadcaster for all Colts games, has been prompting fans to submit their opinions on what musical changes they would like to hear in the future at homes games. Fans now have the chance to let their voice be heard, and to possibly shake up a stale situation at Lucas Oil Stadium.

Many NFL stadiums seem to use the same pump up music year after year. Whether it’s “Who Let The Dogs Out” by the Baha Men, or “Let’s Go” by Trick Daddy, there seems to be the same similarly recycled stuff being played all over the league. The Colts have been pumping in the same pump-up music for quite some time, and a change would be good.

The early part of this week brought about the end of the 2013 NFL Scouting Combine. Dozens of possible NFL rookies got poked, prodded, and questioned for the better part of the last seven days. Some of the drills and interviews were grinding and daunting, but it all pales in comparison for the chance to become a pro in the NFL.

The tests have been given, and the drills have been completed. Every team in the NFL has accumulated info on numerous prospects for April’s draft. The task at hand now, is to take all of the information collected, and try to see what they think about all of the players they have reviewed. Indianapolis has closed the doors at Lucas Oil Stadium, and now the road to the 2013 NFL Draft is officially underway.

For the players, they have finished the first major part of opening themselves up for NFL teams. Some of the tests and questions were downright degrading, but there is a lot of money on the line for both player and team. The next two months will now find these young men doing their final push to upgrading their draft stock, and fulfilling their lifelong dreams.
