Even when the end result is not what they want, the Colts hold there heads high, take pride in what they have accomplished and prepare to move on.

As a final gesture to the 2009 season that ended in heartbreak in Miami, the Colts went on a six stop “Thank You” tour around Indiana to do one last thing- thank the people that make it all possible, the fans. Yesterdy was the end to the week long journey that saw the Colts visit Louisville on Monday, Evansville and Terre Haute on Tuesday, and Mishawaka and Fort Wayne on Wednesday with the final stop Lucas Oil Stadium on Thursday.

Fans got the opportunity to meet several players as well as the Colt mascot. They could also see the Lamar Hunt Trophy which the Colts earned for winning the AFC championship.

Doing so is not necessary at all and something that I have not heard about many- or any- teams doing. In a league where prices continue to rise to go see a game, jerseys and other fan gear cost an arm and a leg, and players whine about not making $5 million instead of $4 million, it is refreshing to see a team that takes the time to get in touch with the people. Without the fans, there would be no team.

Thank you Colts for having the class to take the time out to go on this mini-tour; thank you for saying thank you.

I tried to think of some pithy remark related to the Will Smith song about Miami, but it just wasn’t coming to me. Some things you just can’t force; I’m better off sticking to football anyway.

For the second time in four years the Indianapolis Colts will be the AFC representative in the Super Bowl and conveniently enough they will be returning to the scene of their first visit- beautiful, sunny Miami. Their opponent will be much more of an offensive threat this time in the New Orleans Saints. However, before talking about those guys I want to talk about the AFC Championship game one last time.

I have to admit that the first half made me a little nervous. Sanchez appeared to be coming out of his shell somewhat and seemed to really lead the Jet offense well; he just might turn Braylon Edwards into a fantasy threat once again.

What I really like about the game was that it was one of the more complete contests that the Colts have played this season. Now Peyton did have a banner day with close to 400 yards. While Joseph Addai did not crack 100, his 80 yards on the ground were vital to Peyton’s success.

What was really impressive was the way the defense really stepped up in the second half. They did not play poorly in the first half; the Jets were just able to capitalize on big plays. In that second half though Freeney and company made a rookie quarterback look like a rookie and two of the best runners in the game look like amateurs.

This win had to be a relief for Caldwell as well. Even if the guy never admits it, he had to be sweating this game at least a little after losing the regular season match up due to pulling the starters. Had the Colts Super Bowl run been stopped by the team that was in the playoffs only because the Colts let them in- well, I could only imagine the s*it storm that would have exploded on the radio and talk show circuit.

Anyway…Congratulations Colts; it was a great game to watch and I can’t wait to see you demolish the Saints in Miami!

Vote!

Still time to go vote for Nikki folks. The NFL Fandamonium leader board shows the top two and she is not one of them guys. Here’s the link http://www.nfl-monster.com/# ; after you vote be sure and come back hear and let me know so you can be in the running for a $50 gift card for the NFL Shop.com!

Who Dey?

Who in the he*l do the Jets think they are?

Personally, I have never put stock in trash talk leading up to a game or cared what anyone said or did. The way I figured it, the immature idiots are the ones that talk smack and deserve to be ignored, talent or no. If they actually have talent then by trash talking they prove that they are too immature to actually know how to utilize it to the fullest.

In my mind the Jets have now proven that they are just that kind of team. In case you are unaware, these bragadocious fools have actually started taking pre-orders for AFC championship gear. I understand and appreciate that the NFL Shop is actually doing that for all four teams playing Sunday, but the Jets are the only ones actually promoting this.

From the NFL’s stand point I completely understand. They should be looking to take advantage of the business side of things, as long as they do it equally (which they do). However, for the Jets to be promoting it they are saying that they are showing how confidant they are in their ability to get a win against the Colts. It wouldn’t matter if their confidence was actually warranted; it’s a no class thing to do.

Going into the game today I was routing for the Colts, but primarily hoping/ looking to see a good game. Now I hope Peyton and crew demolish these guys the way they could have back in Week 16 if Caldwell had allowed it.

KICK A*S! GO COLTS!
