As the story unfolds, the ugly truth is usually revealed.
Jim Irsay, owner of the Indianapolis Colts, was arrested for operating a vehicle while intoxicated, earlier this March. The story was somewhat surprising, but the details arising are simply shocking. There is a difference between addiction and criminal behavior, and the owner of the Colts seems to be balancing both.
The Carmel, Indiana Police Department case that is coming into focus, nearly raises more questions than answers. Excerpts from the March 16th police report have Irsay not only driving while intoxicated, but holding multiple types of prescription drugs (in various bottles and bags) in his vehicle. Irsay was also found to be in possession of nearly $30,000 in cash. Irsay also reportedly refused to have his blood drawn, for the purposes of toxicology results.
What may have initially seemed to be Pre-St. Patrick’s Day partying, is starting to look like a chronic (and possibly very criminal) issue. An abundance of prescription pills and an abundance of cash, leans more towards the idea of sales and distribution, rather than simple addiction.
Irsay has admitted himself into a rehab center. Hopefully, he can come out of his current situation clean. However, there will most likely be more foes to face, on the other side of his rehabilitation.
