Roster Moves for the Indianapolis Colts

On Thursday, the Indianapolis Colts made some roster moves, in order to get the jump on NFL free agency. The Colts not only made some additions, but also released a player, as well as offering tender to others. For a team who had been fairly quiet up until this point, the Colts seemed to really hit the ground running all at once.

Along with signing veteran defensive player D’Qwell Jackson early Thursday morning, the Colts also made several other adjustments. Indianapolis decided to release former starting center, Samson Satele. Satele was one of the first players brought in by new general manager Ryan Grigson, almost exactly two years ago this month. Satele was set to be the linchpin of the reloaded Indianapolis offense, but never really seemed to click with the Colts.

Indianapolis also offered an exclusive rights tender to OLB – Cam Johnson, who played in 12 games last season, mostly on special teams. The Colts made qualifying offers to CB – Josh Gordy and G – Joe Reitz, which means that they can match any offers made to the restricted free agents from any other teams. Gordy appeared in 12 games for the Colts last season, and Reitz played in 14 games.
