Five Questions for Week 6 Against the San Diego Chargers
The Indianapolis Colts are heading into a heated Monday Night Football game against the San Diego Chargers in Week 6. We were able to ask FanSided San Diego Chargers blog boltbeat.com editor Conor Cahill some questions to get Colts fans educated a bit more about the Chargers.
Q. What has been the biggest factor of Phillip Rivers’ resurgence this season?
A. Whisenhunt has really tried to give Rivers multiple checkdown options instead of the one over-the-top read style of Norv Turner. Rivers has completed almost 80% of his passes between 0-15 yards past scrimmage. This gives him plenty of options to go with the football and he has been taking advantage of them. Every once and a while though, he will still force that pass that just kills the Chargers.
Q. Who is one player that the Colts need to gameplan for on offense?
A. Keenan Allen. He is a big, physical receiver with good speed. Allen is a rookie, but went off last week against Oakland for 115 yards and a TD. The coaching staff will definitely try to get him more involved after that big game.
Q. Who is one player that the Colts need to gameplan for on defense?
A. I can’t honestly say there is someone on defense the Colts should really game-plan for. Eric Weddle is really the only player on the Chargers defense that has made an impact this year. He can do everything on the field and unfortunately, he has to. He will be palying center field, slot corner, and in the box. Luck must always know where #32 is.
Q. Who is the #1 choice in San Diego at the running back position?
A. Danny Woodhead. He will be playing during our no huddle because he can run, catch, and pass block. He makes the biggest impact by far at RB. Ryan Mathews just can’t seem to find holes and extend runs. He also still can’t pass block so he doesn’t play during the no huddle offense.
Q. What is your prediction for the game on Monday night?
A. After Sunday night against the Raiders, I know how bad the Chargers can be. The new Chargers staff should be able to give them a good jolt of confidence before Monday. Regardless, I think the Colts are playing too well right now. 35-24 Colts.
Mr. Cahill’s prediction for the game sounds very good for us Colts fans. We thank Conor very much for taking the time to answer these questions for us, and let’s hope that the result of the game on Monday Night winds up going similar to how he predicted it. One other note is that this will be Andrew Luck’s first game on Monday Night Football. This will be a must watch game for Colts fans.
