In a surprise move on Sunday, the Indianapolis Colts decided to waive running back Kerwynn Williams. This release comes a day after the Colts reduced their roster to the mandatory 53 players.
The move may be because the Colts have seen a player waived from another team’s roster that interests them. Williams had been a bright spot for the Colts’ running game during the preseason. In the final preseason game against the Cincinnati Bengals, Williams led the team, with 92 yards on 18 carries. Williams was also impressive for the Colts in the kick return game. if he clears waivers, Williams could be placed on the Colts’ practice squad.
Williams was selected by the Colts in the 7th round of the 2013 NFL Draft, after a stellar college career at Utah State.
