Colts Place Ahmad Bradshaw on PUP List, John Boyett on Non-Football Injury List

The Indianapolis Colts announced a couple of roster moves on Tuesday, placing rookie safety John Boyett on the non-football injury list and recently acquired running back Ahmad Bradshaw on the physically unable to perform list.

Boyett was at one point an All-American safety and looked like he could be a third or fourth round pick, but a couple of really bad knee injuries pushed him down and almost off a lot of draft boards, and now he will likely be behind whenever he finds his way to the field in terms of competing for a roster spot and getting into the rotation at safety.

Bradshaw is a much bigger story here, and is expected to be the Colts’ opening day starter at running back, but this setback could open the door for Vick Ballard to see more carries than maybe we would have expected. He has spent the past six seasons with the New York Giants, where he started 33 games and won a Super Bowl.

I think at this point, it’s obvious Bradshaw gives the Colts the best option out of the backfield with his pass catching ability. His versatility will be missed if he isn’t able to play for a significant amount of time, and he needs to get acclimated to his new offense and teammates as soon as is possible.
