This week, the Indianapolis Colts (3-3) will travel to visit the Tennessee Titans (3-4), for what will be a very important AFC South divisional match-up for both teams. Recently, I reached out to Jason Peters, assistant editor of the Titans website, www.titansized.com, to ask him a few questions about Sunday’s game in Nashville.
Naptown’s Finest – What is the injury status with quarterback Jake Locker? If he was fully healthy, would you rather have Locker or Matt Hasselbeck as quarterback of the Titans right now?
Titan Sized – Locker is out with a dislocated non-throwing shoulder. We were hoping that he would be healthy this week so that we could see a Locker/Luck face-off, but unfortunately that will have to wait until the next game between our two teams. Personally, and I think most fans would agree with me on this, I would rather see Locker at the helm, as though he is raw, and no doubt prone to making mistakes this season, his skill-set is unreal, and the offense can become incredibly dynamic once he figures everything out.
NF – What should we expect from Chris Johnson for the rest of this season, after his monster game against the Buffalo Bills last week?
TS – I expect him to show up and destroy opposing defenses until Locker comes back, at which point I think they’ll shift the focus back to Jake Locker’s development and he’ll see his opportunities decrease. I may be biased, but then again I love CJ. He’s done a lot to expose the franchise along with Steve McNair and Eddie George before him. The Colts have done a good job of containing him in previous games, but he is coming off of a hot streak and it will be interesting to see who wins out.
NF – What is the best part of the Tennessee Titans right now? What is the worst?
TS – The best part of the Titans right now is hard to pin down. I don’t think in terms of execution, there is a whole lot we are doing well on a consistent basis. I think the best thing we have going for us right now is athleticism and promise. Between Locker, Wright, Cook, CJ, and others, we have an incredible amount of ability and talent on the field, but we aren’t close to being able to bring it all together. The worst part of the Titans carries over from this, which is our inconsistency on the field, as well as the fact that we have a lot of unrealized talent on the team at this point.
