As a tag-on to his piece about Andrew Luck’s private workout yesterday, Mike Chappell of the Indianpolis Star mentioned that the Indianapolis Colts might be interested in bringing in Byron Leftwich as a veteran backup quarterback.  Supposedly, this interest stems from the Colts’ new offensive coordinator Bruce Arians, who worked with Byron Leftwich when both toiled for the Pittsburgh Steelers.   This doesn’t sound like a terrible idea, because Leftwich has enjoyed some measure of success in the NFL, and he has filled in for the main guy on multiple occasions.

Only trouble is, the Colts just raided the New York Jets’ coffers to pick up QB Drew Stanton, presumably as a backup.  Maybe the Colts have decided to forgo Luck and build around Stanton?  Oh, what fun that would be!
