Could Chip Kelly Be in Colts Coaching Mix?

Could Chip Kelly be in the Colts coaching mix?

On Sunday night, it looked like the Tampa Bay Buccaneers had all but wrapped up Chip Kelly as their next head coach, but we awoke to the news this morning that he was instead staying put as the top man with the Oregon Ducks.   As the Indianapolis Colts and owner Jim Irsay also continue their search for a new fearless leader, I have to wonder if the developing Kelly situation doesn’t have a tinge of Blue and White to it.    Before Jeff Fisher signed with the Rams last week, there was speculation that he was waiting for the Colts job to open up.  Although that didn’t play out in our favor, I have to think that the Indy job is at least as attractive as the Bucs’ gig, and that Kelly might at least be open to speaking with the Colts.   After all, he’s already shown that he’s not averse to flirting with the NFL, so why not Indianapolis?

    I like your thinking!

Fellow FanSider here on a Ducks blog, and a source told me on Friday that the Colts have some interest in Chip Kelly. It’s just a source, but still interesting. I don’t know the extent of their interest, but I do know that they have at least tossed his name around, but I have my doubts as to whether or not they have contacted him.

@SorianoJoe That is pretty interesting. They seemed to be willing to consider someone from the college ranks (Tressel), but they just signed Pagano. Thanks for chiming in!
