First, i salute somebody that is a Colts fan has enough gut & gumption to write this article. Second, what is good about history, at least sports history, when all smoke is cleared, the cream of the top will and should float to the top. That is why despite some still count the # of rings, most football savvy people will “NEVER” ever compare Terry Bradshaw with Johnny Unitas. But i bet during those days of Steelers 4 SB rings, Bradshaw was God – I am not old enough to remember or know but that is my guess… anyhow, I digress. Yes, it is really ridiculous to compare Luck with Manning. The analysts and draft gurus perpetuates the hype & comparisons.. and the hapless Colts fans eat them all up! Since #18 went down, most Colts fans started holding onto hope & a potential savior. Since Manning’s health report is less than stellar, they have to hold onto anything. Business-wise, Irsay has to do what he has to do. But is the right decision, nobody knows until years later. At this time, it is insulting to compare #18 to Luck. 10 years from now, if Luck earns the right to be compared to #18, so be it.

@Swimming Pool Expert I certainly think that the confluence of current circumstances is impetus enough for the Colts to move on. Of course, I’m not Irsay, and I’m not even Perry. Even I can see that there probably is not enough talent on the team to make the Manning expenditure worthwhile.
