Think what you will about the tests that players endure at the NFL combine and their value to actually figuring out who can make it in the NFL, but having it here in Indianapolis has to be slightly beneficial to the Colts. I don’t know how, but I’m sure it must be.
I am sure that every team has a full slate of scouts and coaches in attendance ready to poke and prod as players see how fast they can cover 40 yards, how many times they can press 225 pounds, how high they can jump, how far they can jump, [...]

Let the Combine Begin!
What do the Colts Need?
For a team that has done so well for the last decade it is not an easy thing to figure what they need to look for in the coming draft or free agency. Someday soon they will need to look for the next guy to take over behind center; Peyton Manning can’t play forever (although he does have a good 4-6 years left at least). A better running attack would take a lot of the pressure off of Manning to win every game. However, Addai ran well at points throughout the season as did Donald Brown, so one has to [...]
Class Act all the Way
Indianapolis has always been about doing things the right way, not cutting corners or throats in order to get the job done. Even when the end result is not what they want, the Colts hold there heads high, take pride in what they have accomplished and prepare to move on.
As a final gesture to the 2009 season that ended in heartbreak in Miami, the Colts went on a six stop “Thank You” tour around Indiana to do one last thing- thank the people that make it all possible, the fans. Yesterdy was the end to the week long journey that saw the [...]
So When Does the Season Start?
After the loss to the Saints in the Super Bowl, like , many fans, I just had to take a step back for a while. When you are so good all season long only to fall short of the prize in the end- well, it sucks. Oh well. Time to move on. Who’s looking forward to next season besides me?
However, before I move completely on I have to tell you guys about something that I just read. I’m probably just behind, but I could not help but comment after reading this story.
Prior to the Super Bowl a school in Louisiana [...]
Colts in Danger?
Now Colt fans, do not condemn me for saying this but I feel that is the 800 pound gorilla that no one wants to acknowledge- Peyton Manning is not a God.
There, I said it. Hate me if you must.
Manning will undoubtedly go down in the record books as one of the greatest quarterbacks to ever pick up the pigskin. That goes without saying, but with the state of the league currently in love with the pass a team has to be prepared for their leading man to no longer lead.
The average age for a quarterback to retire in the NFL [...]
Moving On
With the game done and in the books it is time to do what every team has already started doing- looking to next year.
Peyton Manning will be going into his thirteenth season and looks better than ever. If wide recievers Austin Collie and Pierre Garcon can contine to mature that will give the Colts four viable receiving threats (the other two being Reggie Wayne and Dallas Clark). Joseph Addai does tend to catch a good number of passes out of the backfield as well (possibly a fifth receiver?).
If there are any question marks anywhere it is in the same old [...]
That Sucks.
For Colt fans there is no better way to put it than simply THAT SUCKS.
For what initially looked like a dream season in the making has now ended in being second best, the first loser for the 2009-2010 football season. However, with the loss to the New Orleans Saints tonight, the talking heads have been given a whole slew of things to talk about, analyze, and debate for the near future and into next season.
Did Jim Caldwell have the team prepared? They were competitive and the Saints are a good team. For the Saints to win does not meant that [...]
LET’S GET IT ON!!!
Alright sports fans, the talk is almost done, the pregame feel good stories are over and it is just about game time. No more talk about which gunslinger is better than the other, which receivers are going to make a difference and no more talk about Reggie Brush breaking anything. We will soon find out just how good Dwight Freeney’s ankle is, how bad Reggie Wayne’s knee might be, and just who want it more.
I don’t know about you, but this time right before the kickoff I love. There is no longer any more wondering or chatter; it’s just time to [...]
By the Numbers
Everyone likes to try and predict the winners and back it up with any number of different statistics. While never one to jump on the bandwagon, this one is just too tempting not to ride for at least one post.
Both teams have had stellar numbers throughout the season:
Offense: Overall- Colts 9th, Saints 1st; Rushing-Colts 32nd, Saints 6th; Passing- Colts 1st, Saints 4th
Defense: Overall- Colts 18th, Saints 25th; Rushing- Colts 24th, Saints 21st; Passing- Colts 14th, Saints 26th
The most notable stats here is the dead last ranking for the Colts in rushing defense paired against the 6th best rushing attack of the Saints. For [...]
Super Week News Coverage
I just love the different stories that end up getting told during the week leading up to the game. Analyst and writers can only say so much about how great Peyton Manning and Drew Brees are, what the state of Dwight Freeney’s ankle is, and how many points the two high-powered offenses are going to put up.
This is the one week where the little guy that does not usually get a lot of media attention finds himself getting a little more attention. Such was the case for offensive lineman Kyle DeVan.
Offensive linemen usuaully only get noticed when they miss a key block, [...]
