What We Learn from Buffalo, Oakland

AUTHOR: Nick Pease | IN: Colts | COMMENTS: None Yet

First off, I apologize. I have been meaning to write this post for a long time, but am just now getting to it. From the title of the post, I gather you can tell what I’m discussing and so therefore I’ll get right to it …
First thing we learn from both is that they are both good football teams.  I’m fairly certain that no one expected or predicted last Monday nights games to unfold the way they did.  So first things first, I think we realize that both of these are good football teams.
I mean they were playing the Patriots and the Chargers! And [...]

Week 2 Preview: Colts at Dolphins

AUTHOR: Nick Pease | IN: Colts | COMMENTS: None Yet

After coming off a tough week one win over the Jags, the Indianapolis Colts must wait until Monday night to see if they can open the season 2-0.
The Colts travel to Florida to take on the 0-1 Miami Dolphins who lost their season opener to Atlanta 7-19.  The phins lone score came late in the fourth quarter as turnovers plagued the Miami offense.  Likewise, the Colts struggled with turning the ball over in week one, losing the rock on their first two possessions.  A stout defense helped Indy pull out the win.
Everyone knows the Colts identity: a power offense anchored by Peyton Manning with his [...]

Colts add WR Hank Baskett

AUTHOR: Nick Pease | IN: Colts | COMMENTS: None Yet

The Colts have made a nice addition at wide receiver, signing former Philadelphia wideout Hank Baskett.
The signing was annonced this morning on both the National Football Post, as well as Stampede Blue, via King Richard who read the news on Adam Schefter’s twitter page. It’s reported Baskett is currently on the way to Indy to sign his contract.
The addition of Baskett means that perhaps Anthony Gonzalez’s injury is much worse than initially projected. Despite the unknown severity of Gonzo’s injured knee, this is an exciting pick up for Indy. Baskett is a proven receiver and [...]

Colts to sign WR?

AUTHOR: Nick Pease | IN: Colts | COMMENTS: None Yet

With Anthony Gonzalez injured, it appears the Colts might be doing a little shopping.  Thanks to Stampede Blue, via the National Football Post, for announcing that the  Colts worked out three wide receivers today.
The NFP reports that David Patten, Chad Jackson and DJ Hackett all worked out for the Colts today.  With the recent roster cuts, Indy could be making room for a signing.  Stampede Blue also reports that Hank Baskett has cleared waivers and could come at an affordable price.  He is guaranteed to make the three year vet minimum of 535K, but will probably make less than the [...]

Colts Release Kicker Shane Andrus

AUTHOR: Nick Pease | IN: Colts | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

The Indianapolis Colts have let go of two players on Wednesday,  including place kicker Shane Andrus and linebacker Cody Glenn.  The news was posted on Colts.com, which is a bit surprising considering player moves are rarely posted on the website in any sort of timely fashion.
The move must signal that Adam Vinatieri is fully healthy and the team feels confident in him handling all the kicking responsibilities.  Andrus did the kicking off in week one for the Colts and performed admirably in the preseason, connecting on all of his field goal attempts. Best of luck to Shane.  He played well for the [...]

Defense Steps Up, Colts Win 14-12

AUTHOR: Nick Pease | IN: Colts | COMMENTS: None Yet

It wasn’t a blow-out and it wasn’t pretty, but the Colts started 2009 on the right foot defeating the Jacksonville Jaguars Sunday by a final score of 14-12.  Missed opportunities on offense and stellar defense mark the story of a game that could have been much, much worse for the visiting Jags.
Offensively the Colts, although a bit shaky, looked ready to go from the first whistle.  Unfortunately, it didn’t work out so well for them.
Indy received the ball first, marched the field all the way inside the five yard and looked primed to score the games first points. But quarterback Peyton Manning threw a bad pass into double [...]

The Peyton Manning Show, 2009 Edition, Begins Now

AUTHOR: Nick Pease | IN: Colts | COMMENTS: None Yet

The day is finally here. The 2009 football season is underway and opening Sunday has finally arrived.
In a mere 30 minutes the action gets underway and Peyton Manning and crew take on the Jacksonville Jaguars. I’m starting to feel a little funny inside, kind of like when you climb the rope in gym class. Yeah, I get that excited for football.
The Titans have lost their season opener and already give the Colts a chance to get a leg up on the division. Many of the folks at Yahoo and ESPN call a win for the Colts. [...]

Week 1 Game Preview: Colts vs Jags

AUTHOR: Nick Pease | IN: Colts | COMMENTS: None Yet

Finally it is here. After months and months of waiting in anguish,  this Sunday the Indianapolis Colts open up the 2009 season against division foe Jacksonville Jaguars.  In recent years the Jags have played the Colts very well, yet somehow the Colts usually seem to come out on top.  The Jags have also been rather dominant against Indy with the run, including the diastorous game several years ago where Jacksonville ran for like 857 yards.
Last season the Colts turned an ugly opening month into another impressive season going 12-4 and making it to the playoffs once again.  The Jags, on the other hand, riding very high [...]

Football is Here!

AUTHOR: Nick Pease | IN: Colts | COMMENTS: None Yet

First off, apologies for the lack in posting. There has been plenty to cover, but I’m just starting back classes as well as starting a new job and internship, so It’s been a bit busy – but no fear! I am back and ready to rock and ready to roll. So naturally, the biggest storyline of the morning is …
FOOTBALL IS BACK !!!
Yes my friends indeed it is. Last night I missed most of the game, but was stunned to walk into the bedroom (my wife was asleep but had the game on ofcourse!) to see that early in the [...]

First Cuts Made, Who Else Will Go?

AUTHOR: Nick Pease | IN: Colts | COMMENTS: None Yet

The Indianapolis Star is already reporting that four players have already been let go. The four players included cornerback Dante Hughes, a third round pick in 2007, cornerback Nick Graham and offensive lineman Steve Justice who saw some playing time last season after being drafted in the sixth round.
In a stunning move (to me atleast) the Colts also let go of defensive tackle Adrian Grady.  I like Grady and thought he added nice depth to the rotation at DT. As sited on Stampede Blue, hopefully he makes the practice squad and can develop more there. But I would not be surprised if another team [...]
