Colts Need Some Changes, And Here They Are

AUTHOR: Zach | IN: Colts | COMMENTS: None Yet

I was at the game on Sunday, and it was the first time I had witnessed a Colts loss in person since Jim Mora was head coach.  It was very sad.  First, I want to say that the pass interference was bogus, but that isn’t why we lost the game.  Having the ball for 18 minutes is what killed us.  However, losing by two when the offense barely sees the field in the second half really shows how good this offense is.  The defense can’t do anything without Bob Sanders, and that is sad.  We need someone to step up.  [...]

Manning will always need to be the man

AUTHOR: Zach | IN: Colts | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

In the frenzy around the Patriots improbable 16-0 season in 2007 and the Eli Manning’s emergence with the New York Giants, most football fans seem to have forgotten about the Indianapolis Colts. The experts have not. They consistently mention the Colts as the team to beat in the AFC, whether they have a star quarterback getting back into Pro Bowl form or not. The Colts have earned the right to be feared by every team in the NFL.
The franchise has been consistent since 2003 in their excellence. Peyton Manning can lead the team [...]

Answers To Some Questions

AUTHOR: Zach | IN: Colts | COMMENTS: None Yet

Around the interwebs this week, I’ve heard some questions being brought up about the Colts.  Will Jamie Silva be called up from the practice squad to replace Bob Sanders and maybe Matt Giordano?  Will Keyunta Dawson play?  Are Dallas Clark and Jeff Saturday healthy?  The Indy Star has the answers to those questions.
Question 1: Silva coming up?  Answer-Maybe.  Dungy said that there is a possibility that the Colts will get another safety, but that would mean someone would have to be cut.  With all of the injuries, we don’t have space to cut anyone.
Question 2: Is Dawson healthy?  Answer-Barring any [...]

The Hardest Theoretical Question I’ve Seen

AUTHOR: Zach | IN: Colts | COMMENTS: None Yet

Here is a question I brought up on Stamede Blue.  If the Colts were completely healthy and not one player on the active roster (so minus Ryan Lilja and Tyjuan Hagler), what 8 players would be inactive for the game?  Only 45 people dress, so that means 8 players will not be playing.  Taking out special teamers, that leaves 42 players, so one backup for every starter except 2.  This is such a tough question, I will need to break it down position by position.
QB: Peyton Manning, Jim Sorgi
We need both of them.  End o’ story.
RB: Joseph Addai, Dominic Rhodes, [...]

So Much For A Healthy Season

AUTHOR: Zach | IN: Colts | COMMENTS: 3 Comments

The Colts never catch any breaks.  Bob Sanders and Tony Ugoh are going to miss the Jacksonville game.  Sanders has a high ankle sprain and will miss 4 to 6 weeks.  Tony Ugoh has hurt his groin but Dungy didn’t give a timetable for his return.
On the bright side, Jeff Saturday and Dallas Clark might play this Sunday.  Of course, we will be without Mike Pollak and Jacob Tamme, and Daniel Muir, Keyunta Dawson, and Roy Hall missed practice today as well.  The Colts always seem to have major injury problems.  I know other teams have injuries, but no other team [...]

Colts-18, Vikings-15: Redemption for Vinny

AUTHOR: Zach | IN: Colts | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

I was going to do this last night, but Ike took down the power.  Trees were falling everywhere in Indiana.  This hurricane was huge.
The Colts looked terrible in the first half.  Our offensive line was down to the backups.  If this team was healthy, Jamey Richard, Charlie Johnson, Steve Justice, and Dan Federkeil would not be playing in such a big game.  We were shut out in the first half with a Peyton Manning-led offense.  That doesn’t seem possible.  This game looked ugly early.  However, some luck, a classic Peyton comeback, and the most clutch kicker in football history kept [...]

Colts-Vikings First Half Notes & Thoughts

AUTHOR: Zach | IN: Colts | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

This is a terrible game to watch.  The Colts have no running game, and the Vikings passing game is weak.  There hasn’t been a touchdown.  Neither team has looked good.  This is a sloppy game.  The good thing is, the Colts are only down by 9.  They’ve played like a 4-12 team, but they could still win.
~Ugoh getting hurt is a killer.  Charlie Johnson has no chance of stopping Allen.  We need Saturday back next week so we can have some running game.
~Addai is getting no help at all.  There is no blocking, the playcalling isn’t too good, and he [...]

5 Keys To Winning the Colts-Vikings Game

AUTHOR: Zach | IN: Colts | COMMENTS: None Yet

Sure, the Colts looked bad in Week 1, but the good thing is that the Vikings didn’t look like a contender against Green Bay.  I know some of the Colts “fans” are ready to jump off of the bandwagon, and I say good riddance.  Make more room for us loyal fans who know that this team is a contender. If we want to look like the championship team we can be, these five things need to happen.
1. Stop The Run: Ed “Pineapple Express” Johnson toked his Colts career away, but that doesn’t mean that Adrian Peterson is going to run [...]

Bye Bye Roby

AUTHOR: Zach | IN: Colts | COMMENTS: None Yet

Courtney Roby has been cut to make space for new returner Justin Forsett.  The Indianapolis Star just did a big story on Roby making the roster.  Oops.  I feel bad about Roby being cut since he is from Indianapolis and grew up cheering for the Colts, but this is football.  You can’t fumble kick returns when you are losing.  Forsett is more of a TJ Rushing-style returner who isn’t as explosive as Roby but doesn’t fumble every time he is hit.
With all of the roster moves, here is the Colts new depth chart from Colts.com:
QB: Peyton Manning/Jim Sorgi
RB: Joseph Addai/Dominic [...]

Ed Johnson Has Been Replaced

AUTHOR: Zach | IN: Colts | COMMENTS: None Yet

When Ed Johnson was cut, the Colts had a crisis at defensive tackle.  Raheem Brock, Keyunta Dawson, Daniel Muir, Darrell Reid, and Eric Foster.  The Colts HAD to sign someone before the Vikings game.  The Colts came through.  Sort of.
They didn’t sign Booger or Colin Ferrell.  They signed LaJuan Ramsey, the former Eagle and Niner.
He is 6-3, 300 pounds, so he is definitely a nose tackle.  He played in 15 games over two years with the Eagles and got 6 tackles.  He was signed by the Niners this offseason but didn’t make the final cut.  Ramsey went to USC for [...]
