First series on Sunday - Peyton under center for 1 play. Am I crazy? Read on...First, let me set this up for you, and I want you to think "throwing out the 1st pitch"...

It's Pre-Season. It's a brand new multi-million dollar stadium. Go ahead, clear it with the Bills, but this is the script for how to open the Lucas Oil Stadium at the start of the game.

The crowd is rabid. Colts get the ball for their very 1st. possession in the brand new. Sorgi and friends line up, and just as Sorgi gets under center, he calls timeout. The crowd groans. TIME OUT ON THE VERY FIRST PLAY?? Sorgi runs to the sidelines, and almost unoticed, Peyton comes walking out of the tunnel, walks directly downfield to the ball. Now the crowd is so loud it just might break the glass in the stadium. Even the Bill's players are smiling and marveling at the reaction.

Peyton does not huddle. The team gets on the line, and Peyton, in shotgun. takes the snap. Using only his arm, he throws a 3 - 5 yrd. out play (which the Bills have already guaranteed that the receiver will be allowed to catch the ball) for a completion. The crowd goes nuts again.

Peyton, taking off his helmet, walks to the sideline smiling and waving as Sorgi runs back out onto the field.

First pass at Lucas Oil Stadium*: Peyton Manning
First receiver of Peyton's pass*: 'fill in the blank'
Peyton stats*: 1 completion for 5 yards, no interceptions, and no touchdowns.
Cost? PRICELESS

Peyton, Dungy, the GM, Owner, and yadda have earned the respect of the NFL to perform this scripted first offensive play by the Colts. Next time Peyton takes the field, it will be for real, so let's not waste this opportunity.

Besides, I'll be there with my 9 and 11 yr. old sons, but only after we locate our Walk Of Fame brick...
