Since It’s The Hall of Fame Game On Sunday

AUTHOR: Zach | IN: Colts | COMMENTS: None Yet

There is no better time to look at the Indianapolis Colts current Hall of Famer.  This guy started off the trend of great Colts running backs.  It’s been a while since the Colts haven’t had a perennial Pro Bowler at running back, and this back out of Southern Methodist was the first to run for 1,000 yards with the Indianapolis Colts.
Eric Dickerson

Eric Dickerson was drafted by the Los Angeles Rams with the second pick of the 1983 NFL Draft.  Dickerson didn’t wait long to become a star.
In his first two seasons, he ran for a combined 3913 yards and scored [...]

Pitcock Quits, So It’s Time For Another Roster Prediction

AUTHOR: Zach | IN: Colts | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

Quinn Pitcock has retired from professional football.  I guess he pulled a Ricky Williams.  Indy still hold his rights, so if he would change is mind like Brett Favre, he would have to play for the Colts.  Good thing that this happened at arguably our deepest position.  I’m sure some of the other defensive tackles can make this whole ordeal be forgotten.  Eric Foster, Keyunta Dawson, Darrell Reid, and Ed Johnson should do the trick.
Since Pitcock quit, and I have read some info about who’s been looking good and who hasn’t, I think it is time for another roster prediction.

Training Camp Musings: July 26th

AUTHOR: Zach | IN: Colts | COMMENTS: None Yet

The injury bug bites again.  Melvin Bullitt and Philip Wheeler both got hurt today.  Bullitt had a sprained thumb, so he probably won’t miss the Hall of Fame Game August 3rd.  However, the news is not so good for Philip Wheeler.
Wheeler couldn’t finish practice because he “injured a knee”.  The fact that it doesn’t say “bruised his knee” or “sprained his knee” implies something much worse.  The same thing that cost Booger McFarland and Rob Morris roster spots.  Torn ligaments.
Phillip B. Wilson got a comforting quote from Bob Sanders in his blog.
“Asked how close he is to 100 percent, he said, [...]

Training Camp Musings: July 25th

AUTHOR: Zach | IN: Colts | COMMENTS: None Yet

Today is the first practice of the 2008 training camp.  Even though the first practice just ended, there’s been a lot of news.
~Clint Session has been practicing with the first team at strongside linebacker.  Of course, it would be surprising for a rookie (Wheeler) to be starting there anyways.
~Peyton Manning did not report.  He has been ordered by his doctors to stay home so his knee doesn’t get re-infected.
~The Hefty Lefty and Gray have already had their first camp casualities.  Longtime practice squad QB Josh Betts and rookie Adam Tafralis both got cut.  That means there are only 3 QBs left, [...]

Sorgi Has Competition

AUTHOR: Zach | IN: Colts | COMMENTS: None Yet

According to the biggest idiot on the blogosphere, Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, Jared Lorenzen and Quinn Gray have signed with the Colts.  Rotoworld, a more competent site has confirmed this, so we can welcome Gray and The Hefty Lefty as official members of the Colts.
Florio said that this means the Colts don’t think Manning might be ready in time for the start of the preseason.  The 4 to 6 weeks time period still hasn’t registered in Florio’s mind.  But I’m sure he’ll realize it soon.  Hopefully before September 7th, so we don’t have “Sorgi May Start?” as the top rumor.

6 Rookies Sign

AUTHOR: Zach | IN: Colts | COMMENTS: None Yet

Three rookies have now signed.  One of them is undrafted.
Sam Giguere, the French-Canadian wide receiver, signed a two year contract with an option for a third.  Here is the original article for all of you French scholars, and here is the poorly translated version via Babel Fish.
Also, Jacob Tamme and Mike Pollak have signed.  Both of them will contend for starting jobs, so their arrivals at the beginning of camp would have been vital.
UPDATE: Mike Hart, Steve Justice, and Marcus Howard have also signed.  Here is the link about the signing frenzy.

Colts News: July 22nd

AUTHOR: Zach | IN: Colts | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

ESPN.com is now saying Peyton Manning might be ready in the preseason.  ESPN Radio in Chicago reported that days ago.  ESPN.com isn’t the best place for breaking news.
Marvin has been cleared to practice and will participate at training camp.  That means Peyton, Bob Sanders, Dwight Freeney, Tom Santi, Tyjuan Hagler, and Ryan Lilja will be the only players on the PUP list for training camp.  Santi has a bursa sac infection.  I say at the draft we remove all of our players’ bursa sacs.  Those things cause nothing but trouble.  The skin needs to touch the bones more anyways.

Final Pre-Training Camp Colts Roster Prediction

AUTHOR: Zach | IN: Colts | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

Players report on Thursday, so this is one of the last days to do a roster prediction.  It feels like now is the best time for one, so here it goes.  53 players make it on the roster, 8 on the practice squad, and I will put 10 that should keep in touch if injuries take their toll.
53 Man Roster
QB
#18 Peyton Manning-I bet I caught you off guard with this one.
#12 Jim Sorgi-Sorgi will get a chance to prove himself this upcoming year.  He better not blow it.  Adam Tafralis and Josh Betts are creeping up on him.
RB
#29 Joseph Addai-Another shocker.

Dungy Expects Peyton & Marvin Back Sooner Than Expected

AUTHOR: Zach | IN: Colts | COMMENTS: None Yet

On the “Waddle and Silvy Show” on ESPN Radio in Chicago, Coach Tony Dungy had a few comments (which you can hear here) that can make a Colts fan day.
“Marvin’s doing great and should be ready to go when training camp opens,” said coach Dungy, “He was running pretty well at our offseason workouts and really smiling and feeling good I think for the first time in a while.”
I was really surprised to here this about Marvin.  Of course, the Colts were the ones who said he would play in the Tennessee Titans game in Week 17, so you never know.  However, most [...]
