Who Needs Fullbacks?
Apparently the Colts don’t. Luke Lawton, the Colts lone fullback from last season, is gone. The Colts traded Lawton to the Philadelphia Eagles for a condition draft pick.
Lawton was a nice player, but the Colts picked up 2 running backs (Rhodes and Hart) that will for sure make the roster and another who could be a practice squad player in Chad Simpson.
If the Colts can get a draft pick out of this, it would be huge. The Colts always seem to get a great player in the later rounds, and getting another pick just increases that possibility. I’m not sure what the conditions are, but it would be nice to get a 6th or 7th rounder out of a player who would probably be cut during training camp.

The Dan Klecko full time FB experiment has failed. He is now a full time DT, and probably won’t make the team.
I honestly don’t know much about Lawton, but I hope he’s good. FB is a really big question mark position for the Eagles.

Lawton is pretty good. He was probably a borderline roster cut here in Indy, but I don’t know about the backfield depth in Philly. I would assume that he could be a good 3rd down blocking back depending on his use.
