Simeon Rice, Released

Simeon Rice (Indystar.com)

Well, I have no flippin’ clue who’s going to replace him but Simeon Rice is out now. The situation is Freeney is out so they brought in Big Sim and after two games they release him…and re-sign FB Luke Lawton. Nothing against LL Full Back or anything, but he can’t take Freeney’s place. Rice got one sack during his two games with the Colts, but apparently it wasn’t enough as he played sluggishly and didn’t quite prove that his shoulder was healed as he said.

Here are some different links that review and shed some more light on the situation…ESPN and Indystar.

No more smiles, Big Sim…No more smiles.

He was a little slow at times, and I think Josh Thomas has just proven that he can get the job done in Freeney’s absence, and it’s nice have another threat at RB and someone who can really pass protect for Peyton.  I also dig LL’s punisher tatoo.

Okay…you’re right…LL’s tat is pretty impressive. You win.

Is this the end of Simeon Rice????

Who knows?  We may resign Simeon Rice before the season is over.  Especially with the history of our season.  Signing and releasing the same people.

I’m sure there will be a team out there though desperate enough to pick up Rice.  Maybe not this ear but I’m sure it will happen

I don’t think it’s the end of Big Sim at all…he’s just hurt and apparently playing sluggishly. I didn’t notice much, but the focus during the last two games wasn’t on the defense. There are plenty of ways to make up some of Freeney’s absence. Now the absence of Peyton’s game can’t be accounted for…the focus was on him. Josh Thomas will be fine, I think.
