ESPN’s Take on the Colts-Broncos

AUTHOR: Zach | IN: Colts | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

As ESPN’s John Clayton said, NFL schedule-makers really “outdid themselves this week.
“Rivalries and grudge matches abound. Jamal Lewis and the Browns play host to the Baltimore team that let him go. Daunte Culpepper goes back to Miami. Matt Schaub gets to rub it in against Atlanta for trading him. Darrell Jackson of the 49ers can make the Seahawks pay for dealing him. Former Steelers assistants Ken Whisenhunt and Russ Grimm can get back at the Steelers for passing each of them over for the head coaching job.”
Sure, the Bengals-Patriots game is pretty huge, bigger than the Colts-Broncos matchup, but the closest [...]

More Trouble for Belichick

AUTHOR: Zach | IN: Colts | COMMENTS: None Yet

It looks like JetsGate isn’t going quietly into the night. Things aren’t going well for New York so far this season so one Jets fan has found an “out” to vent his frustration. Check out this article from Yahoo! Sports.
The lengths people go to when they’re stupid!

5 Questions with BroncoTalk.net

AUTHOR: Zach | IN: Colts | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

As promised, I asked the owner of BroncosTalk.net – a great site for everything Broncos – a few questions about his favorite team and about their season. This is what he had to say:
*****
1. Tragedy has gripped the Denver Broncos this year with the loss of Darrent Williams and Damien Nash. How have the Broncos and Broncos fans dealt with such a loss and how have they replaced them on the field?
Tough question… this is still really hard to talk about, but I’ll do my best.
Strictly on the field, of course all of Denver is excited about the Bly-Bailey combination. [...]

Chatting with BroncoTalk.net

AUTHOR: Zach | IN: Colts | COMMENTS: None Yet

I chatted with Kyle Montgomery over at BroncoTalk.net and answered a few questions for him concerning this week’s game, the Broncos and the rest of the season. Take a look at your master blogmaster had to say:

And while you’re at it, check out this comparison of Cutler and Manning. Is Jay as good as Peyton?

He’ll be answering some of my questions, so in the next day or so check back to hear his answers!

Initial Scouting Report, Colts vs. Broncos

AUTHOR: Zach | IN: Colts | COMMENTS: None Yet

Who: Colts vs. Broncos
When: Sunday, 30-Sep, 415pm
Where: Hoosier (RCA) Dome, Indianapolis, Indiana
This is the best team the Colts have played so far this season, but it should be a victory, albeit a hard-fought one. The Broncos are no pushovers, especially with Champ Bailey and Dre Bly marking up against our two best receivers (Wayne and Harrison). Watch for even more balls played to Clark and Gonzalez, not to mention Keith. I’m saying Keith over Addai because I have a feeling Dungy’s going to push Addai to his limits. The Broncos D is fantastic…against the pass, but the run has a [...]

The Colts (and the Lions) Still Get No Love

AUTHOR: Zach | IN: Colts | COMMENTS: None Yet

The Colts are still No.2 behind the Pats, according to Yahoo! Sports weekly NFL rankings. I guess I’m okay with that…I grudgingly admit the Pats’ skillz, but that doesn’t get Belichick off the hook for JetsGate.

A few questions about each ranking…Let’s start with Jason Cole’s list:

1. How in the hell are the ‘Boys NOT at No. 3?
2. Am I reading this right: The Ickles are No. 9? What one exceptional game puts them in Super Bowl contention? It was one friggin’ game! They’re 1-2, for God’s sake!
3. The way the the Titans and the Texans are matching up this season, [...]

IndyStar’s Tribute to Peyton

AUTHOR: Zach | IN: Colts | COMMENTS: None Yet

I’ve been meaning to bring this up for a while now, but have had just too much else to talk about here at Naptown’s Finest. The Colts have had many difference-makers in their fold since Johnny Unitas…Erik Dickerson, Jim Harbaugh, Marshall Faulk, Marvin Harrison, Edgerrin James and I haven’t even dipped into the defense!
But I can’t think of any other Colt that has made more of an impact on the franchise than Peyton Manning. This 1st pick in the 1998 NFL draft out of University of Tennessee (right) is on track to break every significant QB record in both the franchise and the league. [...]

Week 3…Success?

AUTHOR: Zach | IN: Colts | COMMENTS: None Yet

Some would be really happy with the Colts’ 31-24 victory over the impressive, newly born Houston Texans with Matt Schaub at the helm. The Colts struggled during the 1st half, and barely held off the dangerous Texans in the 2nd half.
1. The Colts showed major cracks in our special teams, especially on that opening kickoff committing a penalty and then allowing a run-back TD on the re-kick. Not a good sign of a Super Bowl-bound special teams unit. This is after a Week 2’s dismal showing against the Titans where one FG was blocked (but still made counted for three as it [...]

Back To Our Colts

AUTHOR: Zach | IN: Colts | COMMENTS: None Yet

We’ve had some fun checking news around the league this week, but let’s get back to our Colts!
Houston Texans, Sunday @ 1pm, Reliant Stadium, Houston, Texas. Locally, I’m thinking it’s Channel 13. Tune in because you might be in for a show.
Granted, the Houston Suxins haven’t been much competition since their franchise began, but remember they beat us last year in December and Andre Johnson only caught 3 passes that game. Speaking of Andre Johnson, he might not play this Sunday which is great news for the Colts. Johnson’s a marquee receiver with the height and strength of T.O., the speed of Randy Moss [...]
